Shape the Future: Have Your Say on Edward River's Strategic Plan
Published on 18 December 2024
It’s time for the community to have a say on one of Edward River Council’s most important documents, the Draft Community Strategic Plan-Toward 2035, which is now on public exhibition until 31 January 2025.
This crucial 10-year guiding document outlines the vision and objectives for the entire Edward River region over the next decade.
Edward River Interim Chief Executive Officer, Gary Arnold described the importance of the Community Strategic Plan (CSP), “The CSP is the community’s plan for its future. It serves as the council’s roadmap, influencing the development of plans, policies, budgets, and programs of work”.
“Council cannot deliver the plan alone and we will continue to work collaboratively with our stakeholders and partners to ensure all of Council’s work is aligned with the CSPs long-term goals,” said Mr Arnold.
Extensive community engagement was undertaken in 2021 to inform the 2022 CSP. The report of the outcomes of the community engagement, "Our Region, Your Say," has been used to inform this Plan's development.
The plan focuses on five key themes:
1. Communities
2. Natural Environments
3. Built Environments
4. Economies
5. Leadership
The CSP will feed into Council’s four-year delivery program and annual operational plan which are being developed for adoption next year.
“The CSP sets out to accurately reflect our community’s goals and identify key strategies needed to achieve them,” said Mayor of Edward River Council, Cr Ashley Hall.
“We value our custodial role of the CSP and will engage with the community to refine and finalise the plan on behalf of our residents – but we need your input to ensure it truly serves our community’s needs,” Cr Hall said.
The CSP must be reviewed after every ordinary council election to ensure it remains relevant and reflective of the community's aspirations.
Residents are encouraged to review the Draft Community Strategic Plan and share their views.
The plan is available for viewing and online feedback via Council’s website. Hard copies can also be picked up at Council’s Customer Service Centre, and residents may return a hard copy of their feedback.
