The Major Projects Program is specifically aimed at funding larger scale priority infrastructure and services projects that deliver long-term economic and social benefits to communities.
Council seeks funding opportunities from State and Federal Government Agencies to undertake many of the Major Projects it undertakes.
Through our allocated projects, Council is addressing long-standing community priorities and delivering social, sporting and road infrastructure upgrades to meet the needs of our growing community. Funding opportunities usually have requirements to be completed within a given period. To ensure all these projects are delivered on time, we package similar projects together and plan the delivery sequence.
Edward River Council has initiated a 30-year plan to increase the region's population to 19,800 people by 2050 through the Edward River Growth Strategy 2050 project. The strategy aims to support the community's aspirations for development in various sectors while ensuring sustainable and coordinated growth.
This project made the runway longer and more durable so it can accept larger aircraft. A new ground lighting system was installed to improve safety.
Sewer cleaning and relining works in various locations in the Deniliquin township will commence soon.
Edward River Village is an independent senior living project consisting of 32 home retirement homes in a village setting.
The reconstruction of Dick Street between Henry and Harfleur Streets will include the replacement of road and kerb & gutter.
