Remuneration

Where members are required to attend meetings or training in person, reasonable travel costs will be reimbursed as per the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee Terms of Reference.
Edward River Council is seeking a locally based independent member for its Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC).
About you:
You are a passionate supporter of transparent and open governance that upholds the standards of the community. You possess significant experience at the senior level in the administration and management of complex organisations. You are a cooperative team member with strong negotiation and communication skills.
Candidates must be locally based for the duration of the appointment and possess knowledge and experience of the Edward River local government area.
About the role:
As the locally based independent member of the ARIC, your role will be crucial in enhancing Council’s governance framework, risk management practices, control, strategy, and performance environment. In particular, your knowledge and experience of the Edward River local government area will provide valuable insight for the Committee.
Specifically, the responsibility of the Committee is to keep under review the following operational aspects:
(a) compliance
(b) risk management
(c) fraud control
(d) financial management
(e) governance
(f) implementation of the strategic plan, delivery program and strategies
(g) service reviews
(h) collection of performance measurement data by the council, and
(i) any other matters prescribed by the regulation.

Functional knowledge in areas such as risk management, performance management, human resources management, internal and external auditing, financial reporting, accounting, management control frameworks, governance, or business operations.

Desirable qualifications and experience:
