Apprentice Mechanic
Location: Deniliquin
Employment Type: Full-time, 4 year fixed term apprenticeship

Are you passionate about mechanics and looking to kickstart your career in a supportive and hands-on environment? Edward River Council is offering an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Mechanic to join our team. As an Apprentice, you will work under the direct supervision of the Head Mechanic and other workshop staff, gaining valuable experience while learning the skills required to maintain and repair our plant fleet and small plant items.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of Edward River Council’s plant fleet, including trucks, machinery, and small plant items.
  • Carry out routine servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on council vehicles and equipment.
  • Learn to troubleshoot and identify faults in plant machinery and equipment.
  • Work with experienced mechanics to ensure all repairs are completed to the highest standards.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy workshop environment, following health and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with ordering parts and managing inventory as required.
  • Participate in training and study to develop your skills and knowledge in the automotive and mechanical fields.

 

Key Requirements:

  • A keen interest in mechanics, automotive technology, and plant machinery.
  • A strong willingness to learn and develop your skills in the trade.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good problem-solving skills and a practical approach to hands-on work.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and follow safety procedures.
  • Previous experience or qualifications in automotive or mechanical fields would be advantageous but not essential.
