Edward River Council has signed its third consecutive 3-year sponsorship agreement with Deni Play on the Plains Festival Ltd (DPOTP), cementing Council’s ongoing support of the local not-for-profit and its annual Deni Ute Muster and Play on the Plains events.

Edward River Council Mayor, Cr Peta Betts, Acting CEO of Edward River Council, Mark Dalzell, and DPOTP General Manager, Vicky Lowry, met at Ute Muster HQ last Monday to sign the new sponsorship agreement, which represents an increase in investment by Council compared to previous years.

Mayor Peta Betts stated, “The Deni Ute Muster and Play on the Plains annual events bring immense social and economic benefits to our region and we applaud the Play on the Plains Festival team for delivering them.

“They strengthen community engagement, increase visitors to our region and play a key role in our region’s growth. It’s a pleasure to support them by signing on as a strategic partner.”

DPOTP General Manager, Vicky Lowry added, “We are incredibly grateful for the support shown by Edward River Council through the signing of this third 3-year sponsorship commitment.

“Events play a vital role in bringing people together and fostering a sense of belonging. They contribute to the social and economic growth of our local area. Last year, more than 25 local community groups received over $50,000 for their volunteering efforts.

“Visitors come to Deni from every State and Territory in Australia, as well as internationally. This exposure of our region to Australia and the world is a major win. The long-term commitment by Council allows us to plan with stability and confidence.”

The award-winning Deni Ute Muster attracts approximately 20,000 people of all ages each year, with new activities and infrastructure being added annually. It will be held on 4 & 5 October 2024.

The Play on the Plains Festival attracts a diverse selection of musical talents and turns the iconic Deni Ute Muster site into a dance floor. It is normally held in March each year.
