Blue Sky Thinkers Sought For Growth Blueprint
Published on 04 October 2023
Are you passionate about our Edward River community? Have a desire to see our region grow? Edward River Council is seeking ‘blue sky’ thinkers to help steer the direction of its blueprint for growth in the region over the next 30 years.
Council is establishing an advisory committee to oversee the development of the Edward River Growth Strategy 2050 and is seeking five community members who are passionate about growing the Edward River population to join.
Edward River Council’s Mayor Cr Peta Betts said the growth strategy is of critical importance to the future of the Edward River region.
“It will be a blueprint that sets out our region’s competitive advantage and economic opportunities, and will direct residential, commercial and industrial expansion in a sustainable and strategic way. We’ve heard from our community that we need to grow to prosper. This strategy will provide our Council with a clear vision for growth, and we are very keen to get the right people in the room to provide advice from a community perspective.”
Interested residents are asked to complete an Expression of Interest form and outline their vision for growth in Edward River, their background and why they would be the right choice for one of the limited positions.
The five successful community members will join Cr Shannon Sampson and Cr Harold Clapham in working closely with the consultants engaged to deliver the strategy by reviewing key strategic elements and providing advice on content and stakeholders.
Councillors Sampson and Clapham will review the EOIs and make a recommendation to the full Council for appointment, following a merit based assessment process.
Cr Betts encouraged applications from all sectors, saying there were no barriers to participation.
“We want to see applications from across the region – from our villages, from young people, from all parts of our community, all economic sectors, and from people with culturally diverse backgrounds or living with a disability. As long as you are an innovative thinker, please apply!”
Expressions of interest will be received up until 8am Wednesday 11 October 2023. Visit Council’s website or Customer Service Centre to pick up an expression of interest form.
